"Home of the Original Hamburger"

Athens, Texas is the "Home of the Original Hamburger." In 2006, Athens Mayor, Randy Daniel proclaimed Photographer Rick Vanderpool "Hambassador".

Later that year, Vanderpool traveled 11,000 miles, looking for the best hamburgers in Texas. He photographed roughly 750 joints, tasted several of the best of the best Texas burgers, and began writing THE Texas Hamburger book. Along the way he imagined creating a Texas Hamburger Trail.

Fast forward to 2010. The travel, photography, tasting and writing has continued and Vanderpool has a contract to author THE Texas Hamburger book that will include the Texas Hamburger Trail.
